Northalsted put 57 Pride landmarks on one map.

Northalsted, just north of Lincoln Park in Lakeview, is known for its vibrant LGBTQ+ community and its welcome. Its rainbow pylons have lined Halsted Street since 1998. Rainbow crosswalks mark the intersections, Pride murals cover whole walls, and the Legacy Walk honors LGBTQ+ figures from history on plaques mounted to the pylons.

Visitors come for Pride, Market Days and a night out. The #WalkWithPride tour gives them a reason to walk the whole street: to find the murals, stop at the plaques and learn who they honor, and pass the neighborhood's businesses on the way.

And it runs itself. There's no guide to schedule and no start time, so anyone can pick it up on a Tuesday afternoon or a Pride Saturday.

A printed walking map goes out of date and runs out. Anyone can start this tour by entering NOHAPRIDE or tapping a link. When it launched, the Alliance also embedded a view-only version of the map on its LGBTQ+ visitor guide, so people planning a trip could see the route before they arrived.

For a business alliance, that's the job: a steady, low-effort way to move people through the neighborhood, past storefronts, bars and restaurants, while telling the story that makes the neighborhood worth visiting.
