Event Spotlight: Northwestern University & Kellogg’s ACE Program

Being headquartered in Evanston, we love working with local organizations and there’s no greater partner than Northwestern University. With our newest Event Spotlight post we wanted to highlight one of our fun summer events with the Kellogg School of Management and their ACE Program. The ACE (American Culture and English) Program is unique to Kellogg and is a three-week acculturation program in the summer. It assists international students in cultivating the skills and confidence needed for success in the MBA classroom and American culture. It’s also a great opportunity for international students to get accustomed to the city of Evanston and the surrounding cities.

We had about 100 participants competing throughout Evanston to find the 42 unique challenges in under 3 hours! Some of the sights included local favorites such as murals, historic buildings, statues and more but Kellogg was able to add in some local favorites including the Weber Arch and Deering Library. This was such a fun way to connect with students from around the world and introduce them to the local community, with the winning team ending up snagging 30 of the 42 total challenges!

Players also got to visit local Northwestern favorites like “The Rock” which is a seasonal work of art that gets painted during Halloween, Thanksgiving, and other holidays. Originally installed in the 1940’s, it is located between University and Harris Hall it serves as a billboard for campus groups and other events. It’s one of our favorite sights by campus which also include the Levere Memorial Temple and Block Museum of Art. For those visiting Chicago or Evanston and looking for interesting sights to see - look no further! Feel free to check out our Evanston Murals Walk or Lakeshore Park Trail along Lake Michigan in the free Roamli app. Happy Roaming!
